Sandwich Swing Bridge - Major Repairs

UPDATE

Things have moved very rapidly since my last update on 16th March when I confirmed that we still hoped to commence the refurbishment to Sandwich Toll works as planned starting on 30th March.  Unfortunately, the ongoing spread and attempts control the Coronavirus makes this impossible so we have now postponed for the foreseeable future.

Latest on our proposed toll bridge refurbishment works for your information.

“Sandwich Toll Bridge Refurbishment – Latest Update

In response to the Coronavirus outbreak, Kent County Council has postponed the planned works to refurbish Sandwich Toll bridge that were due to commence under road closure on Monday 30th March 2020.

A revised date for the works has not yet been set but it is hoped that it will be later this year.

Kent County Council service delivery is now under continual review. While Highways is not generally affected at this time, it may be necessary to prioritise work which could see routine and non-safety critical enquiries taking longer to be resolved than usual.  We will continue to ensure any dangerous or emergency matters are given highest priority.

We appreciate many residents will have questions and we will try and answer as many of those as possible, please read our your questions answered page - https://www.kent.gov.uk/social-care-and-health/health/coronavirus/coronavirus-your-questions-answered

For the very latest information on our services, be sure to check our service updates page - https://www.kent.gov.uk/social-care-and-health/health/coronavirus/coronavirus-service-updates “

We will be in touch again as soon as the position becomes clearer.

Kent County Council.
